I went from losing 20kg in 12 months to being diagnosed as pre-diabetic despite having a healthy and active lifestyle. 

I was so confused, how could this happen to me?! Weren’t people who were pre-diabetic all inactive and ate an unhealthy diet? Well apparently not and I was about to be hella educated! 

When I initially lost weight I was so happy... then I started to pick at my body more, unhappy that I still had a tummy etc... but then the fatigue hit, I couldn’t train anymore, I literally needed to sleep like 16 hours a day... Doctors confirmed, hypothyroidism & adrenal fatigue... great... So, i battled through that... 

Then the weight gain started. Gradual at first, then 15kg in 1 year without changing my diet or exercise patterns. So I calorie restricted again, I went GF & DF (miserable!) and in 4 months of doing this, STRICTLY, I gained weight. 

So I shifted, I focused on what my body could do, not what it looked like. That helped SO much! I learnt so much about how little our weight has to do with our health & what was most important.

But I was still gaining weight, dealing with adrenal/thyroid issues & eventually diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I tried metformin & ozempic (ohhhh the vomiting! SO SICK all the time) and settled in with myo-inositol for a while. It prevented anything from getting worse but it wasnt really helping.

So I found an amazing doctor and a horrific specialist (you know those videos you see on instagram of women being told to eat less and get over it, that was him. Maximum don’t recommend). So i went with my GP’s recommendations and started Mounjaro. 

So that’s how I ended up where I am. Want to come along for the next chapter? I’m going to be on a GLP-1 for a while so we may as well get closely acquainted while I deal with ALLLL of this!
