Philosophy

Our founder Brittany Frino formed Actively You in 2017 (formerly Active Edge Fitness) after her own life was transformed through healthy eating and exercise. Britt’s journey inspired her to begin Actively You, where we empower other women to feel more positive about their bodies by improving their health and fitness.

Here at Actively You, we combine our first-hand experience via our own fitness journeys as well as our qualifications to show others that you can enjoy the body you’re in, eat the food you love & discover that exercise can actually be enjoyable. 

We cut through the clutter of messaging in the fitness industry with clear, measurable steps to achieve your goals, whatever they may be!

britt's story

I’ve never been a naturally slim person so naturally, I was on the yo-yo diet train all of my adult life. I tried SO many different diets and workouts, sometimes working out for 2 hours a day to try to budge the fat fast but even if it did work for a small amount of time, it wasn’t sustainable so it all came back on. 

After someone mistook me for being pregnant, I decided to try personal training. At this point, I couldn’t even walk up a small hill without getting puffed, so to say I hated exercise, was probably an understatement! I decided to try Mobile Personal Training because I needed it to be as easy as possible! If the trainer was showing up at my house there was no way I was getting out of it.

In just under 12 months, I lost 20kgs though having 2 personal training sessions a week as well as remaining active throughout the rest of the week. I ate 1200 calories per day for a whole year, with the occasional 1500-calorie day on the weekends. I wouldn’t allow myself chocolate (which I LOVE) and had low-calorie (and pretty low on flavor) options for all my fav foods. 

At this point, I had been working an office job for years and wanted a change. I just detested going to work every day and it made me stressed and miserable! With the encouragement of my amazing husband and my personal trainer, I left my job and started studying fitness! 

That wasn’t happily ever after though. I may have gained a love of health and fitness but I still only viewed my body as worthy based on how it looked. I still saw flabby arms & I didn’t have a flat stomach. 

A year or so later, after Chronic illness hit me hard (weight gain & couldn’t exercise). I became determined to stop hating my body & appreciate all the amazing things it could do!

Now I help other women to stop hating themselves & start loving themselves!

Meet Hugo & Primrose! Actively You’s Chief Encouraging Officers!

Hugo’s favourite form of exercise is swimming! He loves going to his Grandma’s house for a swim in the dams and the accompanying roll in the mud! He also loves a good superman jump into the pool! On a day-to-day basis, he loves to run with his mummy (Britt) at Hawthorne, Minnippi Parklands at Carina, and his favourite Kangaroo Point.

Prim is a running addict! Her happy face and tail are always on full display when we go for runs! Prim also loves going on walks (while wondering why we aren’t running!), especially in new places where she can have a great sniff! Prim especially loves going to Pilates with her mum where she is part of the greeting committee! She definitely doesn’t like it when her mum goes to Pilates on her own & is sure to protest!
